The first year of Confirmation focuses on evangelization, including the kerygma (the gospel acclimation) and providing opportunities for the confirmation candidates to discover the reality of Christ’s love for them. Class topics include but are not limited to:
- The Existence of God 
- Science VS Faith 
- Jesus: Lunatic, Liar, or Lord 
- Scripture: What is it and how should we read it? 
- The Gospel 
- God’s plan for happiness in your life

Confirmation 1 Requirements

       Mass AttendanceTeens should attend Sunday Mass regularly. Attendance will be tracked via the QR code at the entrances of the church.

       Session AttendanceTeens should miss no more than THREE Confirmation sessions during the year. 
- 
      
      
      
        
  
      Inside ServiceTeens should complete EIGHT hours of community service in a parish ministry. www.sjnyouthministry.com/service

       RetreatTeens must attend a day long Confirmation 1 retreat. Ours will be held at a local Irvine community Center in January. Families are responsible for finding their own alternatives.

       Check InAt the end of the year in May, all C1 students are required to complete an End-of-Year Check In 1:1 meeting with the Youth Minister or Assistant.

       Worship EventTeens are required to attend at least ONE worship event per year. Events under this category include InspirationLA, Steubenville, LifeTeen Summer Camp, and Encounter.

       Summit SundayOver the course of each year, teens are required to attend Summit Sunday at least five (5) times. These youth group sessions are held after the 5 PM mass and strive to engage teens in fellowship and faith in their local community.
